John Reiter spent 40 years in the newspaper business as a reporter and editor before returning to school in 2011 to earn a Master’s in Applied Linguistics at GSU. He taught for a semester in GSU’s Intensive English Program, then took a job in Shanghai, China, working for Education First, a global language-teaching company. He spent two years there, working as an editor on EF’s online English lessons. In 2014, he returned to Atlanta, and soon after that, he returned to the IEP, where he is a part-time instructor and coordinator for the tutoring program. He and his wife live in DeKalb County and enjoy hiking and outdoor activities. They have camped in nearly every national park in the Lower 48 states, except for the ones that require a boat to get to.
